A newborn doesn’t need many toys, especialy the candy-colored stuffed animals they are likely to accumulate as gifts. Infact, it’s safer to keep an infant’s crib and paly area free of toys.
But when you do buy toys for your son, look at them carefully. All toys should have smooth edges and be nontoxic, non breakable , and washable. Never give a baby a toy smaller than 1 5/8 inches accross than can be swallowed. Check al parts that may fall off and become a choking hazard. Cut off ribbons and strings and check all toys occasionally to be sure they are in good repair.
